Oh, what a night!

With the official meetings (all 25-30 of them!) over, it was time to let our hair down, take our name badges off, and get ready for our final night in DC! (for many of us, anyway – a lot of the team will be back in summer for internships, full time jobs, or just to have a really good time!)

And – boy! – what a final night party … the social team (Taylor and Zach) had arranged for a great little venue in the Willard Hotel – the historical hotel whose lobby bar was where Ike Eisenhower used to spend a leisurely afternoon. There was a lot that was noteworthy ...

Top Ten Questions we didn’t get to ask. Javier and Zach, from the hundreds of questions we didn’t get to ask, put together a top ten list. Whilst many of these are classified, some of our non-classified favorites included a clarification question was to a prominent politician who continued to defend the great ‘country of Dubai’ (it’s not a country!), amongst others …

Toasts aplenty. Thanks to Taylor and Jamie, each member of team spent somewhere between 2 and 15 minutes (yes, there was a large beta on this one!) toasting some part of the trip, or team member. Believe it or not, this blog even got a toast (We’d like to thank our many fans!)! Other toasts included the trip leadership team, various meetings, and even rare endangered species of animals!

Ryan toasts the team …

… one of our trip leaders, Kassia, gives her toast (while LBJ looks on!).

Trip awards. The Two Peters (not to be confused with the Two Ronnies – or the Three Stooges, for that matter) Pete Kahng and Pete Davies put together an impressive ‘arsenal’ of trip awards.

Some of the most memorable ones included …

The “Happy Republican” Award – Zach Finley (you’ll need to ask him why)
The “Michael J. Fox” Award (from ‘Back to the Future’, NOT ‘Family Ties’) – Kassia – for amazingly getting us to just about everything on time
The “Soooo…” Award to trip leader Dan Agar. Push him to make a decision and you’ll soon find out why …! =)
The “CMC” award to Steve Chung, for his services through the “FoongChung” photo series … more to follow in another post.

Well into the night. The dinner and drinks part of the evening lasted well over four hours, at which time it was time to kick on into Adams Morgan, one of trendiest places to go now in DC. But that was not before some of us grabbed a power nap (supported by caring team mates in this photo) …

Adams Morgan, about ten minutes from down town, was absolutely buzzing on our final Friday night. Just about every night club was overflowing – a big change from earlier in the week, when it was not too packed at all! This place was even more happening than Palo Alto!
(by a factor of about 1,000 methinks …)

We finally bowed to pressure from the gals and ended up at a large dance club called Left Bank (not to be confused with Left Behind – apologies, in-house trip Education joke). It was hot, hot, hot! As were Javier’s dance moves …

It was a sensational night and a fitting end to a magnificent trip.
